Considered an impregnable fortress, the Germans have held the ridge for over two years, and repulsed every attack thrown at it by the British and French. However, the ridge stands in the way of a planned allied offensive in Arras, and so must be taken. It is left up to the men who have proven themselves capable of performing the impossible and snatching victory from defeat - the men of the Canadian Corps.

Thomas Kirby is a Lieutenant with Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, a former sergeant promoted in the blood and fury of the Somme. Adjusting to his new leadership role, Kirby finds it difficult not to lead from the front, and is assisted by his trustworthy Sergeant, American volunteer Frank Bennett, a former United States Marine and veteran of the Spanish-American war. When a dangerous German prisoner escapes with information on the upcoming Canadian offensive, Kirby must hunt him down as he leaves the bodies of soldiers and civilians alike in his wake.

If the prisoner makes it to Vimy Ridge, the fate of the entire operation may hang in the balance. Shadow of Vimy is a story of chaos, murder and betrayal set amid the backdrop of the greatest battle in Canadian military history, and the blood-soaked trenches of the First World War. A young man will find his role as a leader, a leader will find salvation, and in the shadow of Vimy Ridge, a nation waits to be born.
